Final Fantasy XII PS2

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

First traditional RPG installment in Square’s long-running Final Fantasy series since Final Fantasy X. While Final Fantasy X-2 offered a mission-based structure, Final Fantasy XI explored online roleplaying, and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles focused on multiplayer link-up gaming, Final Fantasy XII (12) goes back to the meat of the series by offering a sweeping storyline, a party setup, and character advancement. The game follows the exploits of main character Vaan who can join forces with at least two characters at the time. Final Fantasy XII is being produced and directed by Yasumi Matsuno and is slated for release on PlayStation 2.

Fakes: Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Jade

Friday, August 26th, 2005

A game titled “Pokemon Diamond” and “Pokemon Jade” showed up on auction site Ebay back in 2001. Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Jade are not real Pokemon games. The games claim to be a Pokemon game, however, this is not true. Doing such thing is obviously illegal.

Several pages of these false goods could be found at Ebay back during the time when it was first discovered. Fortunately, it’s much more rare now, although the item does appear every now and then on Ebay.

So be aware of these fake goods, this applies to buying anything online.

When I say “fakes”, I mean that these are not real Pokemon games. It doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, it does.

Not to be confused with Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl

Don’t confuse this with the titles Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl for the Nintendo DS, which was announced years after this incident.

Advent Shadow PSP

Saturday, July 30th, 2005
PSP Advent Shadow Advent Shadow chronicles the gripping story of Marin Steel, a mercenary pilot thrust into a saga of intergalactic proportions. In the midst of extracting herself from a hostile negotiation, Marin is interrupted by a planetary invasion led by monstrous aliens bent on human genocide. In her efforts to escape the dying world, she encounters young Gideon Wyeth, the unlikely protagonist of Advent Rising, and together they find themselves swept up in a massive struggle against dire forces bent on the destruction of humanity.

“Advent Shadow allows us to further develop the character of ‘Marin’ through a completely new experience set in the same universe, but completely separate from the Advent Trilogy,” said Donald Mustard, creator of the Advent Trilogy. “We’ve utilized the same themes and elements to expand upon some of the sub-plots of the trilogy and added compelling new game play to create a truly unique handheld experience.”

About the Advent Trilogy
Scheduled for release in 2005, Advent Rising is the first of a planned trilogy of action/adventure games for the Xbox ® video game system from Microsoft and PC. An intergalactic saga created with award-winning science fiction author Orson Scott Card, the Advent series thrusts gamers into a continuously evolving series of sequences and events, where they are forced to make decisions that will affect not only the outcome of the first game, but the entire trilogy.

‘GTA’ Game Rating Changed to Adults-Only

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

SAN FRANCISCO - The video game industry on Wednesday changed to adults-only the rating of “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas,” a best-selling title in which explicit sexual content can be unlocked with an Internet download.

The decision followed intense pressure from politicians and media watch groups.

The game’s producer, Rockstar Games, said it stopped making the current version of the game and is now working on a new version. It said it would provide new labels to any retailer willing to continue selling the version currently on store shelves, which had been rated “M” for mature.

Rockstar’s parent company, Take Two Interactive, also admitted for the first time that the sex scenes had been built into the retail version of that game — not just the PC version but also those written for Xbox and PlayStation2 consoles.

Company officials had previously suggested that a modification created by outsiders added the scenes.

“There is sex content in the disc,” said Take-Two spokesman Jim Ankner. “The editing and finalization of any game is a complicated task and it’s not uncommon for unused and unfinished content to remain on the disc.”

The sex scenes had prompted outrage from parent’s groups and politicians, who are demanding federal oversight of video game ratings.

In a statement, the president of the Entertainment Software Rating Board said the sex scenes were programmed by Rockstar “to be inaccessible to the player.”

But ESRB chief Patricia Vance also acknowledged that the “credibility and utility” of the industry-run board’s initial “M” rating had been “seriously undermined.”
